From the frozen tundra of northern Canada, Shane Seward is an intensely personal songwriter who specializes in twisted tales of deceit and despair. Through ten years of vocally fronting bands ranging from grunge to screamo to prog. rock to folk he has grown into a solo acoustic performer with a dark songwriting sensibility and a voice that can send a shiver down your spine. Having been raised a minority in the native american community of Inuvik, NWT, one of the worlds northern most inhabited areas, where the sun doesn't rise for six months out of the year, and temperatures regularily drop to 30 degrees below 0, he has always had a connection with themes of isolation and confinement, which permeates his songwriting. Now being drawn to New Zealand by the love of a Kiwi girl and a hunger for inspiration, he left his home country and his place as one half of Canadian duo This Conviction to begin a new life and forge a new career as a solo artist. Although commited to his original songwriting, Shane has a repertoire full of crowd pleasers from new artists such as Fleet Foxes, The Decemberists, and Mumford and Sons as well as a collection of tried and true favourites from legends like the Beatles, Crowded House and Eric Clapton.
