Gig Information

Celebrating the release of Kurt Shanks (ex-Stellar*) debut solo album Blood Line Heart - Kurt Shanks & The Drakes lead the party with friends Show Me Where It Hurts, and Damien Binder.

Kurt Shanks & The Drakes (Kurt, Andrew Thorne, Wayne Bell, Mark Hughes) will play songs from the new album, with special guests along for the ride.

The home-town show is an appropriate launch for the album, which was recorded by Neil Baldock, produced by Wayne Bell, and mixed by Chris van de Geer. Stylistically, the album (and live set) mixes in-your-face rockers like Lost Without Trace and Shoot To Kill, with the guitar pop charm of Shake Shake Shake and The Real You, and heartfelt ballads like Leaving and 15 Years.

Show Me Where It Hurts is the dynamic new duo featuring Josh Hetherington on vocals and Fender Rhodes electric piano and Ronny Haynes on drums and vocals.

Theyve been embedded in the 95bFM Top 10 for the past month. Stepping out in all their finery – finest of threads, finest of tunes – the two peddle a sweet and savoury smorgasbord of swingin’ sass and soul, and fingerpoppin’ rock-a-rolla! With a hands-on-hips line on the groove, Show Me Where It Hurts gonna make you wanna move!

Sydney-based Kiwi singer-songwriter Damien Binder will play songs from his strong catalogue of moody alt/folk/rock. Damien has released three acclaimed albums and played at the SXSW festival in Austin Texas and supported the likes of David Gray, Marianne Faithfull and Ani De Franco. Hes been a finalist in the NZ Silver Scroll and International Song Writing Competition (ISC).
