Incorporating post-hardcore with various rock sub-genres plus elements of electronica, dubstep, trance and drum and bass; the lads from St Albans are particularly difficult to assign to one genre. The incorporation of electronic genres has become more prominent in their music throughout the bands history. Lyrically, their music tackles an array of political, social and scientific issues with both depth and evocativeness.
The bands third album, ‘A Flash Flood of Colour’, is a string of venomous attacks while fine-tuning a blazing musical fist in the air, aimed at corrupt governments and decaying society. It’s daring, thought provoking, and utterly unpredictable, making it the first bold record of 2012 and Enter Shikari’s defining moment.
Their frenzied live shows have gone down in folklore, with NME declaring frontman Rou Reynolds a man “set on destroying everything: the speakers, the monitors, the Barfly, himself, our ear-drums and, most impressively, the divide between band and fan.”
ENTER SHIKARI have cemented themselves as one of the only true innovative bands around and will be bringing their incredible live show to New Zealand this September for the first time since 2008s Big Day Out festival.
