This is the event page for the ROCK night of a weekend event with the Saturday night being METAL both fundraising for Jethro Morrow who is a VERY sick little boy with Atypical Hemolitic Uremic Syndrome. Which mean's his Liver, Kidney and Heart can fail at anytime and he can have seizures as well. Currently he goes into Starship every Thursday for Plasma Infusions which is one of the only treatments other than Soliris. Soliris won an award from the Guinness Book of Records for being the WORLDS MOST EXPENSIVE DRUG! While Jethro is under 20kgs the drug is ONLY $200,000 but once he gains weight and gets over 20kgs the price goes up to $500,000 PER YEAR!
Jethro is the only child in NZ to EVER be diagnosed with aHUS and is only one of three children in Australasia. The NZ Government currently won't fund this medication because of the on going costs so Jethro's family have to pretty much buy a NEW HOUSE EVERY YEAR FOR HIS LIFETIME!
In 2011 Black Frog found out about Jethro and his plight so after raising over $1000 by running two shows (in Auckland and Hamilton) where over $2000 worth of sponsorship was raised Black Frog decided to put on a Jammin for Jethro EVERY YEAR that Jethro and his family needs to raise $500,000!
The shows last year where amazing with Sinate headlining the Auckland show (as part of their NZ tour) and Thy Assassin headlining the Hamilton All Ages Show which was run with the help of Hamilton band Team Kill.
This year Jammin for Jethro is going to be held over a weekend with Friday night ROCk - 31st August and Saturday Night Metal - 1st September.
I am still looking for headliners for each night!! And some larger profile bands to raise as much awareness as possible of Jethro's plight!
