“Like a finely polished sledgehammer to the skull, Auckland’s Advocates combine the ferocity of metallic hardcore with tech metal stylings and straight up pummelling groove.
Formed in 2009 by five good mates with a mutual love of writing music, Advocates quickly gained huge amounts of attention in the Auckland scene and were quickly packing out local shows and jumping on support slots with every established band that passed through town. Having now racked up an impressive amount shows and tours at home with the likes of We Came as Romans, Dream on Dreamer, A Plea for Purging, Saving Grace, Northlane, DelawareWolves and Antagonist AD, the band were signed by UK label Ghost Music in 2012 and are now poised to take on the rest of the world.
With the impending release of their eight track debut mini album ‘Mindless’ on 12 November, Advocates will embark on their first national headline tour this December across four shows in Wellington, Tauranga, Hamilton and Auckland.
‘Mindless’ is a solid taster of this brutal five piece, whose musical hybrid of slamming grooves could be likened to Volumes and Veil of Maya as much as Texas in July or Memphis May Fire. The band released lead track ‘Deadweight’ on Metal Hammer‘s August cover CD.
Direct support for the December run comes from hard-working South Island band Out Cold A.D.
Raw, passionate, honest and pissed-off, are just a few words that describe this Christchurch hardcore quartet.
The band’s engrained hard work ethic since forming in 2010 has delivered two self-released CDs and seen them play a part in an international five way split CD ‘The End Begins Now’ alongside Queen City Crew, Trainwreck, Time Has Come and Change Today.
Out Cold A.D. have constantly played shows throughout New Zealand supporting many national touring heavyweights, and this dedication has seen them rewarded with an ever growing fan base.
2012 saw the band release their debut album ‘This Is Survival’ on Australian punk hardcore label Pee Records and tour across New Zealand in it’s support alongside Saving Grace and Antagonist A.D.
The new album showcases ten tracks of the band’s furious, in-your-face style.
With crushing breakdowns, relentless riffs and a flowing continuity of tracks, “This Is Survival” is an uncompromising release which will not disappoint fans of Lionheart, Terror and Trapped Under Ice.
Adding another level of heavy flavour to the tour package on the third tier is Hamiltons up and coming metalcore act Dead Dreamers.
Having recently recorded and released their debut EP This is An Awakening produced by New Zealands renouned Zorran Mendonsa (Antagonist A.D., Subtract, In Dread Response, Saving Grace), Dead Dreamers have created
a massive amount of interest in their unique blend of metalcore, post-hardcore and heavy electronic music throughout New Zealand by playing as many shows as possible and refining their energetic live show.
For fans of Bring Me The Horizon, The Devil Wears Prada and Motionless In White, Dead Dreamers bring a great level of diversity to these four shows.
