Dream folk duo French for Rabbits and Chamber folk band Rhiain and the Utter Strangers both share a fascination with seafaring tales, and have released debut EP’s this year. They have decided to team up for a mid-week concert at Mighty Mighty to share their songs with you. Tea-light candles, whisky tea, and sad songs are all possibilities.
French for Rabbits released their well-received debut ‘Claimed by the Sea’ in March to praise on international blogs. The remix of their title track received airplay on BBC 6 in the UK. Known for songs that are at once fragile and strong, this will be their first Wellington outing for quite some time.
Rhiain and the Utter Strangers is the moniker of Wellington based anti-folk songstress Rhiain McGrath. Her first EP Heartplusmelody is a lyric-heavy ode to childhood. Since the release in August 2012, She has been performing with a band intimate shows around Wellington, however this will be their first show gracing the Mighty Mighty stage.
