Zeal Acoustics are a monthly acoustic series run out of the Auckland All Ages venue Zeal West. They have had the likes of Farah Loux, Avalanche City, Jocee Tuck and Lisa Crawley play the Zeal Acoustics stage, and a strong community has built up around the monthly gigs. Its a great vibe at the shows - set up in the cafe, with comfy couches, fairtrade coffees for sale & live music from both established and up&coming artists
Zeal are excited to welcome back JAMIE MCDELL to the venue, to headline the last Zeal Acoustics show for 2012. Also on the lineup will be a few local artists, including an act that Jamie has hand selected herself!
Jamies debut album Six Strings And A Sailboat was released on Nov 16th and has shot to #1 on iTunes! Featuring #1 NZ singles ‘You’ll Never Take That Away’, ‘Rewind’ and the new single ‘Life In Sunshine’. With a voice and lyrics that display an emotive, earnest nature similar to Taylor Swift and a songwriting style reminiscent of Hawaiian acoustic guitar folk-man Jack Johnson, Jamie McDell’s songs are unashamedly pop and undoubtedly some of the country’s best loved. Six Strings And A Sailboat is the album that Jamie McDell has been writing for as long as she knew how to play a guitar.
‘This album is made up from my favourite songs that Ive written throughout my life. I see it as kind of diary entry into some of the experiences Ive had, things Ive learnt, and whats important to me. Each of the songs has its own story so theyre all very honest and have come from a real place.’
