Midge McCleary is a Jazzy, Funky, Blues inspired guitarist.
Having been compared to the likes of ‘John Martyn’ & ‘Michael Hedges’ with a funk/blues twist, McCleary is predominantly a finger-style player on acoustic guitar using alternate tunings, percussive rhythms and funky progressions, and a bigfoot ‘stomp box’ to help provide a solid beat to drive the groove.
Known for his improvisational nature 'In Music and Life', the songs are never played the same way twice live, so you always get to hear a fresh perspective.“As a solo performer I get to go with what ever I’m feeling at the time which brings a great freedom to the music”
Having three albums to his name he has just returned from a tour of the UK, Channel Islands and France, where he wrote most of the material for his latest album 'Love Bus' which he is currently touring throughout NZ.
Midge McClearly @ The Boathouse is guaranteed to be a fun energetic performance so come and enjoy the acoustic grooves.

“I like the stripped down sound, so as a solo performer I get to go with what ever I’m feeling, which gives a great freedom to the music and I just try to keep it real.
