The driving rhythmical talent behind Electric Wire Hustle steps out with solo project to perform live at Leigh Sawmill for the first time.
“The future of drums in NZ is firmly in the hands of Myele Manzanza.” - NZ Musician Magazine
This may seem a lofty statement but this young talent has already enjoyed an impressive career behind the drum kit. For the past 4 years he has been traveling the globe performing with Wellington's acclaimed soul & beats trio, Electric Wire Hustle and he has also performed and recorded alongside some of our best including The Recloose Live Band, Olmecha Supreme, The Jonathan Crayford Trio, Deva Mahal and more.
After being selected as NZ's sole representative at the 2010 Red Bull Music Academy in London, Myele wielded the knowledge he acquired from the tutelage of such masters as Flying Lotus, Roots Manuva, Cluster, Moodyman, Dr Peter Zinovieff and DJ Zinc and crafted his first solo album, ONE.
Now taking a precious break from his international touring schedule, on Friday 22nd of March Myele will assemble his all-star line up 'The Eclectic' for their first performance at Leigh Sawmill. Featuring Funkommunity's Rachel Fraser and Marika Hodgson, Wellington's queen of funk & soul, Bella Kalolo & Wellington's best-kept-secret on the keys, piano maestro Dan Hayles, Myele Manzanza & The Eclectic will take Myele's album, ONE for spin in a high energy, groove & dance floor oriented set.
Myele Manzanza & The Eclectic recently wowed German audiences as part of NZs performance contingent at the Frankfurt Museumsuferfest Country Of Honour festivities and they're excited to bring the party to Leigh Sawmill with support from Auckland's favourite beats aficionado DJ Cian.
