This month's Acoustic Routes concert will be just a few days after St Patrick's Day, so we are celebrating with Irish music.
The Short Blacks - Roy McGuinness on vocals accompanied by the classy guitar of Julian Ward will open the evening. Ballads freshly brewed for every performance.
Next up will be singer, songwriter and instrumentalist Pat Higgins on flute, whistles and guitar, accompanied by Kevin Ikin on bouzouki and bodhran. Pat is self-taught on the Irish wooden flute - in the traditional manner, he says. He learned his craft at his own knee. He co-founded www.ceolaneas.org, which runs an annual Irish music school in Nelson.
The concert also features Celtic multi-instrumentalist Duncan Davidson who has put together a fantastic four piece band especially for the night. With Duncan on accordion, flute and bouzouki, Bernard Wells, guitar and mandolin, Andy Laking (ex Grada) on double bass, and Adam Costa on fiddle.
There will be time for a session at the end, so bring an instrument if you feel inclined.
