It’s the first official gig for the band as “Slade & The Real”. At show number two the audience said the singer ‘slade it’ and the band where ‘the deal’, so they combined musical forces to make Slade & The Real.
The band is made up of Natalie Slade (vocals), Bazi Baker (guitar), Michael Story (bass) and Arona Vaele (drums)… all jazz/ hip hop/ soul/ electronic loving people.
Show number 3 sees them playing a 2hr set of original tunes written by the band in the last couple of months. Fellow entertainers have described the band as being “the musicians band” (producer of “Odyssey”, Kurt Preston), with a genre that is “an epic mix of story telling and rocked up soul music that made me want to swish my mullet repeatedly” (entertainer, Mullet Man).
Two other great things will happen on this night, one being the launch of a collection of Natalie’s previous collaborations on the EP titled “Almost an Album”.
As well as a performance from Christchurch duo “Jet Pants” made up of Tim Mega Driver of Soulsystem on keys and vocals, and John Saunders on guitar. It’ll be the first performance on their return to earth where they’ll play their new style of futuristic soul that got saturated in rocket fuel and set their pants on fire.
