Parvyn has her ancestral roots in the folk and spiritual music of Punjab, and grew up performing in her father's bandThe Dya Singh World Music Group her stunning pure and soulful voice has captured the hearts of audiences around the world.
Josh plays guitar and mandolin, as well as instruments from India such as the tabla and sitar. Well respected in India as a sitarist, he was recently the only non-indian to perform at the 13 day Saptak Festival in Ahmedebad,held as a tribute to the late Pt. Ravi Shankar.
Parvyn and Josh's performances draw influences from both India and from the musical melting pot that is the folk music scene in Australia. Their concert will feature acoustic music from different genres. Those styles include country, jazz, folk, contempory and classical Indian, and Brazilian jazz and blues. Parvyn will perform one item of classical Indian style dancing called Kathak. Kathak is a storytelling style of dance that Bollywood dancing originates from.
