Atsushi & the Moisties are an Auckland based band playing authentic ska and reggae music inspired by the 1960's+70's Jamaican style. Their influences include The Skatalites, Maytals, Heptones, Lyn Taitt and Harry J All Stars. With no vocals, their three piece horn section leads the melody in their all- instrumental tracks, which makes the Moisties sound unique.
Founder of the band, Atsushi (aka Moisty), is a re-inventor of New Zealand ska. Atsushi started the Moisties as a solo side project in 2003, with the intention to create unique traditional ska and reggae music that is great to listen to.
