Gig Information

Versatile rock stalwart, guitarist and composer, Arli Liberman is proud to announce the release of his self-titled debut album on November 29th along with two concurrent shows in Auckland and Wellington.

29th November – Kings Arms, Auckland with support from Lightning Bells, Phoenix Belly Dance and The Means.

30th November – San Francisco Bath House, Wellington with support from Zoe Moon, Lightning Bells, Phoenix Belly Dance.

The Line Up: Stephen Thomas on Drums, Junior Turua on Bass, Michal Martyniuk on Keyboards and Yair Katz on Percussion.

Liberman generates fearless, ambient music that celebrates the diverse spectrum of the world’s vibrant melodies, harmonies and rhythms.Through electrifying, multi-genre bending performances, he builds energetic, expansive soundscapes that convey his most powerful memories and honor the inventive players that have deeply influenced him, including Brian Eno, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour and Michael Brook.

Liberman’s debut includes his previously released single ‘Dizengoff’ – a tribute to his native Tel Aviv as well as seven new works that embody the artist’s signature ‘Middle Eastern World Rock’ style through minimalistic, improvisational melodies and explore the kinetic conversation between Eastern and Western music and philosophies.

“I believe I bring together my musical cultural heritage of growing up in Israel with the freedom of rocky jazz improvisation and the vocabulary of modern guitar.” Says Liberman. “I don’t use only one traditional flavour in my music (for example north African, Syrian and so on...) as Israeli society is formed by lots of different types of cultures from all around the Middle East and the world. I'm taking a bit from here and there and trying to create something kind of fresh.”

Liberman’s LP features a talented band of musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds in his current home base in New Zealand, contributing dramatic instrumental layers and textures. Each track captures the spontaneity of live music, ignites the senses through the powerful lens of rock and roll and illuminates the musical flavors of the artist.

Self-produced by Liberman, the debut was recorded at The Lab Studios, Auckland by celebrated engineer, Olly Harmer, then mastered by Andrew Edgson at the legendary Studios 301 in Australia.

‘Arli Liberman’ is released via iTunes.
