Gig Information

The second installment of emerging and noteworthy indie/folk singer songwriters at the Wine Cellar brings to you performances by WRBM, Late Night Poets, and Geoff Ong with support by Mareya. Moonsine always turns out to be a quality evening, don't miss it! Read on for more info:

White Rabbit Black Monkey
WRBM is an acoustic-folk singer-songwriter project that works as an open collaboration space for a range of creative musicians and performers with: “a blending pot of styles, currently presented in a smoky rootsy acoustic folk format with black downtempo folk!”. Listening to their set is a journey of visualising struggle, persistence in spite of perseverance, doubt, dark places, and political protest, among other themes. Manifested expressions are usually under the influence...of “the sound and resonance of the human effort”.

Late Night Poets
Introducing to Moonshine Method are the hastily discovered stompin’ folk collective newly known as the Late Night Poets. Having recently won on The Audience in October last year, this 6pce band will be soon releasing their new single My Darling. Their incredibly infectious melodies have been the regular tune to a host of backyard summer gigs and now to be experienced at The Wine Cellar.

Geoff Ong Music
Geoff Ong is a significant identity in Auckland’s music scene, not only as a highly versatile musician but also the sound of a completely independent artist to the core. He writes soulful pop bursting with fun, summery, instantly relatable tunes - a perfect soundtrack for fans of summer road trips, hanging out, and eating ice cream. Having already released (and sold out of) his critically acclaimed debut EP in 2011, Geoff now has his second EP Streetlights on the market.

Mareya Music
We have the pleasure of guest artist Mareya to open the Moonshine line up with an engaging voice and noteable talent. Having previously attracted the attention of the likes of Eddie Rayner (Split Enz, Crowded House, Orb, Space Waltz, ENZSO, and The Makers), who recorded one of her first songs at age 15 and has been a mentor for some years, Mareya continues to write prolifically, recording with her own arrangements and production. And to be see in acoustic solo at Moonshine.
