Bob Hillary and the Massive Mellow, are an acoustic/Dub/Reggae band from Edinburgh UK, based around Bob Hillary, former front man from renowned world roots/trip-hop band The Ruffness (2001-7).
Currently playing shows throughout the UK, including at Glastonbury Festival, they are planning to build their international fan base and tour NZ during Jan/Feb/Mar 2014 as a three piece featuring acoustic guitar, vocals, sax, and percussion.
Recently signed to The Big Chill's new record Label, 'TCF'(Total Creative Freedom) & A-TRAIN in the US, they continue to draw increasingly good-sized crowds to their concerts. 2011 saw the release of their debut album 'Nature's Pace', and in 2012 they released their second album, LOVE (featuring the vocals of renowned vocalist Carrie Tree). LOVE has received Rave reviews worldwide & their music has been getting plays by 6 Music, BBC 3, Vic Galloway & Steve Lamacq.
Bob's acoustic songwriting, strong friendship, and a shared love of good, earthy, real music, help to make 'Bob Hillary & the Massive Mellow' achieve that killer combination of being simultaneously chilled and hugely uplifting. A butterfly was taken as the band's logo because the sound is just like this…colourful, mellow, and natural. It also symbolises EVOLUTION & Love, all of which the band see as an important message to be spreading.
Joining them for two weeks in February will be Australian songwriter, Murray Kyle, who has emerged as a highly respected musician in the Australian roots music scene . Be inspired by the powerfully tender performance of this esteemed songwriter. Murray has released his fourth album, Mountain Song, self written, recorded, and produced in the lush setting of Ukl. This album blends a mystical shamanic sound with devotional soul, a dash of R&B and positive roots vibes, and is the coming of age of Murray Kyle, igniting his flame within the Australian music industry.
