Live at Valhalla, Wellington! Featuring:
JACKAL / HIBOUX / CLAEMUS / STARVING MILLIONS
Jackal
Jackal is driven by a focus on the subtlety of shifting dynamics, and the tension and power created by the interplay of the instruments. Jackal's fourth album 'Castle in the Air' demonstrates that it is a truly unique musical statement that moves through various moods effortlessly.
Hiboux
Hiboux is a five-piece instrumental post-rock band from Wellington. They play wandering musical odysseys that range from spacious clarinet solos to crashing guitar heavy crescendos. Comprised of experienced musicians, the band aims to create music that would be at home in a documentary about sharks, a drive across the desert or a balloon trip over the Andes.
Clæmus
The underlying ethos in Claemus has been to fuse the musical influences of four musicians coming from classic rock, Avante garde and death metal backgrounds. Starting in late 2011 the band aimed to achieve new sonic possibilities in the progressive rock genre by fusing ambient textural sounds, deep rhythmic grooves and catchy hooks. With influences ranging from Karnivool, Mudvayne, God is an Astronaut and Shpongle it is clear that Claemus want to be defined by a musical approach rather than a particular genre. Claemus’ musical approach can be characterised by a philosophy that aims to give each song a unique feeling often resulting in varying dynamics, time signatures and key changes in the one song.
