With lyrics that bleed truth and a voice that reflects the name, Soulsista represents a modern culture of New Zealander’s influenced by traditional Funk and Soul.
Based on Waiheke, a small island off the shores of Auckland, Soulsista is of Maori descent of Ngāti Rangitihi & Te Arawa Ngāti Porou, & Ngāpuhi. Kai Tahu & Te Ati Awa.
She looks to the environment to provide inspiration, as well as the obvious international influences including Bob Marley, Jill Scott, Sade, Ben Harper Soulsista is equally as passionate about NZ music and has shared the stage with some of our most accomplished musicians including; Ardijah, Herbs, Emma Paki, Ria Hall, Warren Maxwell, Op-Shop.
Soulsista draws on personal experiences triumphs and tribulations to craft her melodic lyrics and tune. Using only her voice and guitar, she is a powerhouse that can captivate an audience.
She has featured on national television and performed for various national celebrations.
Soulsista is passionate about music as an art form and hopes to continue sharing her message with national and international audiences.
