Matrix & Futurebound need little introduction, both having had illustrious careers in their own right. Matrix first broke through with
his slick techno infused classic, ‘Sleepwalk’ album on Virus
Recordings, later scoring chart acclaim under his house pseudonym
‘Goldtrix’ with the hit, ‘It’s Love Trippin’ (#6 in UK singles chart,
2002), as well as running his own Metro Recordings imprint.
Meanwhile, Futurebound had early success on labels such as Moving
Shadow, Infrared and Timeless before launching his own label, Viper
Recordings in 2004, now recognized as a powerhouse in the bass
music scene.
When Matrix & Futurebound combined their powers to unleash the
seminal ‘Universal Truth’ album in 2007, the skillful fusion of epic
melodic soundscapes with heavyweight dancefloor production and original vocals defined a whole new era in Drum and Bass. Tracks such as ‘American Beauty’, ‘Coast To Coast’, and ‘Family’ were truly ahead of the curve and served as a precursor to the cross-over success that many Drum and Bass tracks have enjoyed today.
The end of 2013 saw Matrix & Futurebound once again rise to new heights with the release of their biggest hit to date, ‘Control’ (feat. Max Marshall). With huge support on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Capital FM, Ministry of Sound Radio and XFM, ‘Control’ cracked the UK Top 10 and charted at #7 in the singles chart and #2 in the Dance charts – a level of success matched only by a select few in the Drum and Bass world.
With their new single ‘Don’t Look Back’ (feat. Tanya Lacey) getting set to drop in the summer of 2014, Matrix & Futurebound show no signs of slowing down as they keep going from strength to strength.
