“Yvette’s music always has a freshness of her own, often a quirky sense of humour, and an artistic freedom” – Katherine Hebley, cellist, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra/175 East
Prolific, versatile Auckland musician Yvette Audain presents her new album of original work. Audain’s diverse range of influences pervade this eclectic live compilation of works for soloist, duo and small ensemble.
Yvette Audain’s music has been performed throughout New Zealand as well as in Australia, Japan and the USA, and her performance experience encompasses classical (Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra; Auckland Chamber Orchestra; New Zealand Opera), jazz (Brett’s New Internationals; the Frank E. Evans Band), folk (Doris; seisiuns and folk festivals throughout New Zealand), concert band (the full-time Royal New Zealand Navy Band; Auckland Wind Orchestra), and free improvisation (Vitamin S). Her music and playing has appeared numerous times on Radio New Zealand Concert. Audain has also composed and arranged for the APO, and was part of their 2010
Graduate Composers’ Workshop (dir. Kenneth Young) with her work Eulogy (text by Olivia Macassey; narrated by Stuart Devenie). This work received its premiere in the APO’s Works With Words programme, in association with the 2011 Writers and Readers Festival. In 2012 Audain spent a year in Melbourne, Australia, culminating in 2013’s Loop City, a large-scale work in collaboration with Melbourne poets Amanda Anastasi and Steve Smart, and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra violinist Sarah Curro.
