An evening of country/Americana and original songs from the excellent award winning Donna Dean. She has been touring New Zealand, but has landed back in Auckland and we're very excited about having her performing at the first Heywire Roots Music Series concert.
Donna will be supported by her band that includes Glenn Campbell, pedal steel, Gary Trottman on double bass, and Greg Turner, lead guitar...great back up for a great story teller!
Also on the bill are the Blue Roses, a country band in the tradition of Bakersfield, Rockabilly, and old time country favorites. The Blue Roses are: Kevin and Alissa Place; Vocals and guitar, Kerry Fraser; drums, Tony Daunt; bass and Buck Croydon; Pedal and lap steel.
Yes folks, two pedal steel players on one bill!
Opening the show will be a short set from singer-songwriter and guitarist Paul Symmons, to help you settle in for the night's entertainment.
The Heywire Roots Music series will be bi-monthly concerts, held at the Winchester on St. Benedicts Street, Newton.
We hope to create an urban country scene that covers all aspects of the Genre: From Country blues, Bluegrass, country rock (70's West Coast sound) to contemporary alt-country and Americana styles...
Our next show is booked for November 13th starring the amazing Tami Neilson...don't miss it...
