Gig Information

“Bill’s songs stick to you like mud. He has a lyrical sensibility that is unrivalled by local songwriters; think Billy Bragg or Paul Kelly. His gritty presentation and wry observation make for compelling listening.”
-Richard Dingwall, New Edinburgh Folk Club, Dunedin NZ

Born in a small industrial town on the south side of Los Angeles, Hyram grew up with Merle Haggard, George Jones and Buck Owens ringing in his ears while trying to learn to play guitar like Jimi Hendrix and Joni Mitchell. Some of it stuck and he now plays in an Americana style, performing songs by some of the great songwriters of the American West. Having grown up in a family that included gamblers, dealers, junkyard mechanics, miners and labourers, often straddling the line of the law, he knows the common folks that populate the songs and brings them to life.
