with guest Nigel Gavin, guitar
Tickets earlybird via www.thevic.co.nz $20
At door $25.
Ernie Gruner and Phil Carroll are two of Australia’s leading exponents in Klezmer, Gypsy, Folk, Jazz, and Eastern European Jewish music. The Melbourne based duo bring offerings reminiscent of Hungarian goulash, red wine, French bread, Turkish cigarettes and tango-dancing painted ladies from the thirties. Ernie Gruner (Violin, Mandolin, Vocals) and Phil Carroll (Accordion, Vocals, Ney) are charismatic, technically brilliant and charming, with an extensive background performing live, and recording together. Bohemian Nights are equally experienced at concerts as they are at serenading at tables, taking requests, or creating atmosphere in a street festival.
Following an invitation to perform at the 50th Wellington Folk Festival, “Bohemian Nights” return to New Zealand for a 7th tour!
Special guest support is Auckland’s own Nigel Gavin on guitar – “astonishing virtuosity with stringed instruments and his prodigious musical imagination.”
