Kicking off the proceedings will be prolific songwriter Bede Taylor, who has played with several bands on the island, including Clench, Three Legged Horse and Tank And Pump. Preferring recording over performing, this a rare chance to hear Bede’s latest material played live.
After the recent departure of Willem Van der Plas, Oyawa continue as a three-piece, with a raft of new material which singer Nikki Ngatai says are “songs of a capricious nature”. Originally hailing from the fetid climes of the mighty Waikato - Jamie Stone takes a break from being the loudest band in town to explore his leftover catalogue that was anomalous to his alt/punk past (bands such as TRUCKER, The Nerve, Mobile Stud Unit and most recently stoner pop trio Imploder). Together with some of Waihekes finest musicians - Secret Weapons For Lazy Lovers finally creates the perfect mellow grunge folk/psych garage unit for late night stoned revolutionary love his songs needed. Stone takes the fine art of song-writing and hacks at it with a butter knife and spreads it between your toes.
