Festival One is a multi-day extravaganza celebrating music, arts and culture running from 23-26 January at Mystery Creek in Hamilton.
The summer festival boasts 70 plus bands, six stages, international speakers, a market place and a comprehensive kids’ program.
Ranging from stadium rock and hardcore, to hip hop and folk, the all-star line-up of artists playing includes Switchfoot, NewWorldSon, Gungor, HalfNoise, Canon Blue, Guvna B, Omega Levine, Late 80’s Mercedes and War of Ages.
Festival One will also host internationally recognised theologians lead by Professor Rikk E. Watts from Regent College, Vancouver who will deliver seminars throughout the weekend.
Director of the festival Graham Burt explains, “We’ve concentrated hugely on community. Of course we’ve got bands, we’ve got six stages of bands but we’ve payed a lot of attention to how people come together, how they camp together and how they eat together.”
Festival goers are being encouraged to create their own environments by customising their campsites with picket fences, gardens and flags to truly make the festival their own.
Meat lovers can rejoice because custom Argentinian BBQs have been built to cook two tonnes of beef that has been donated by local farmers for a free feed on the Saturday night.
Former lead singer of Parachute Band Omega Levine explains “I can’t wait to be part of this exciting new festival and see lives changed for the better through artistic expression and community.”
