SHIVER was originally formed in 1995 by, Mike and Sue During (formally No Exit) and Jared Williams (formally Psychosis), playing regular Christchurch venues (including; The Arena, The Occidental, Warner's), before a residency for over 2 years at McCormack's Tavern in New Brighton.
With dedication from both the band and management, the venue was built up into one of the most popular of the late '90's band venues, resulting in standing room only.
Mike and Sue went on to form ‘Skint’ with Kevin Emmett on drums (formally Pop Mechanix, Fat Sally, Machine Jam and Area 51). Kevin’s vast experience and expertise on both drums and vocals, drove the band into new and exciting directions and abilities.
The bands original line-up was best remembered playing to the tens of thousands of people on the Millennium in New Brighton - one of two events held by the Christchurch City Council at that time.
Individually, the band members went on to play in other dominating bands; Sliver, Rollercoaster, Fallacy and Class 3 before reforming SHIVER in 2011, regularly entertaining at venues including The Rock Rolleston, Mackenzie's Hotel, The Mac Bar, The Irishman, The Pierside, The Oak 'n' Ferry, The Bedrock, The Fitz Tui Clubrooms, The Irishman and The Stock Xchange.
The blend of experienced male and female vocals, haunting lead guitar, solid soulful bass, driven by a dominating thump, resurrects all of the excitement of a past rock band scene, which guarantees to leave their audience ‘shivering.
