Brisbane sweethearts Chocolate Strings launch their much anticipated second album onto the dance floor of the YOT CLUB in Raglan. With them they bring the mix of funk, dub and ska that is Yebiisu!!
8 piece Brisbane Polynesian ‘soul, reggae, dub’ band CHOCOLATE STRINGS are heading over the ditch and back to New Zealand, this time they bring their much anticipated follow-up album with a bunch of launches strung around the North Island.
Heading up their powerful vocal harmonies are three South Pacific Islander singers: Ofa Fanaika, Nia Falekakala and Nicole Loa McWalters from Tonga and Papua New Guinea respectively.
Their latest album represents exactly why CHOCOLATE STRINGS have become the go-to party starters and festival favourites – pulsing reggae grooves tapped with dreamy neo-soul arrangements all while strongly focused on melodic harmonies. This is the record those who have witnessed a Strings show have been itching for.
From the depths of the Waitakere Ranges comes Yebiisu... a soulful and politically-conscious mix of funk, dub, and ska, powered by tribal percussion, bass-heavy grooves, harmonic horns, and mezmerising vocals.
