Gig Information

Alt Country Legend Jimmie Dale Gilmore (of trailblazers Flatlanders) with Colin Gilmore and special guest Delaney Davidson

As one of the most talented and well-known Alt Country musical artists to emerge from the Austin, Texas music scene Jimmie Dale Gilmore has come to exemplify the good-time musical hybrid of country, rock, folk and blues that defines the “Austin sound”.

Always working with top-rate musicians, Jimmie Dale Gilmore consistently presents a wide range of clean and polished songs that delve into an array of styles. His first solo album, Fair and Square was released in 1988 and gained him famous fans including country king Willie Nelson whom he later went on to collaborate with.

As a founding member of the Flatlanders musical group along with Joe Ely and Butch Hancock, Jimmie Dale Gilmour is respected as a trailblazer with the bands More A Legend Than A Band album (1972) widely considered a classic forerunner of the progressive country sound popularized in Austin.

His status as an elder statesman of the country-folk scene has been further established by his appearance as himself in Peter Bodnanich’s 1993 film “The Thing Called Love” and his memorable roles as Smokey in the Coen Brothers modern classic “The Big Lebowski”.

The release of the Heirloom Music in 2011 marked Gilmore’s ninth album. Although he is known for his great songwriting skills, on Heirloom Music, as well as 2005′s Come On Back this Austin legend offers his own versions of classic country songs.

Known for his entertaining shows, fans of this artist everywhere eagerly await news of Jimmie Dale Gilmore tour dates. Gilmore’s son Colin Gilmore, also a singer/songwriter, will be performing as a duo with his father for this very special concert.

Colin Gilmore

Colin Gilmore, born and raised in Lubbock, was surrounded by acoustic guitars and harmonies from birth. Colin has memories of falling asleep to late night singing and waking up on the front porch with the singing at low keel, the sunrise imminent.

“…a West Texan Nick Lowe for his songs structures and their instant sing-along …deep Texan roots show here on the fine Llano, a mature piece of country songwriting.

With special guest, New Zealand’s own Troubadour, Delaney Davidson.

Winner of the 2013 New Zealand Music Awards Country Music Album Of The Year
Three times winner of the APRA New Zealand Country Music Song Of The Year

Delaney Davidson, just returning from performing at Austin’s internationally revered “South By Southwest” music festival, will treat the audience to his own take on things. Initially inspired by the songs of Hank Williams and the Birthday Party, and the performance styles of distilled Johnny Cash and dead-pan Buster Keaton, Delaney synthesizes this into his own persona. A wry sense of humour, some theatre of unease, and a voice classed as “not conventionally beautiful” all combine to breathe life and space into the niche he has carved out for himself, winning him critical acclaim across the world.

“Davidson has waited long enough, despite much deserving work, for a real ‘breakthrough’ album. If justice prevails, his time has come.”
