COCO and JUNELLE will join forces for an evening of blues, and mellow ambient pop tunes. See below for what you can expect from the two sultry songstresses.
COCO
Coco will start the evening with her Blues musician Tom Rodwell (also known as the front-persons of Auckland band Storehouse) with their skirmish of salacious R&B and calypso music.
Listeners can expect an audacious travelogue through slave-era spirituals, antique pre-war blues, classic rhythm and blues and into the rude and racy world of calypso music, with the occasional spontaneous improvisation and eccentric original thrown in for good measure. “The only content of this music is the feeling,” says singer / guitarist Rodwell, “and we endeavour to reach places on the spectrum that other bands can’t touch. Music should sometimes be cathartic - but you can reach that through dance rhythms too, surely.”
JUNELLE
Junelle will bring the live version of her debut EP Just This Sky to the Wine Cellar with a full band of leading and beautiful NZ Musicians. The sound is ambient, electronic pop, each track adorned with beats written by her partner and producer Abraham Kunin - the perfect backdrop for her smooth and silky vocals.
Last year saw Junelle release her gentle and sultry debut EP, Just This Sky. Show casing her exceptional song writing and vocal ability, this EP beautifully captures her ambient, electronic pop sound, as each track adorned with beats from her partner and producer Abraham Kunin (Homebrew, Esther Stephens & The Means, YGB), set the perfect backdrop for her smooth and silky vocals. Just This Sky received a string of rave reviews and was listed as one of the top 14 albums of 2014 (NZ Herald).
Between Junelle's dulcet tones and Kunin’s enlightened production, the pair have done what most struggle to even contemplate: add something to the ever evolving music industry.
