Gig Information

AHoriBuzz is the brain and love child of Aaron Tokona, a fixture and mainstay of New Zealand music for years, from his work with previous bands Weta / Bongmaster / Cairo Knife Fight & Fly My Pretties to collaborations with some of NZ’s top musicians. AHoriBuzz is an extension of that emerging from the same pot of phat beats that first spat out Fat Freddy’s Drop. Named after Tokona’s cousin, Hori, a smiling, mellow, bass-playing giant, the AHoriBuzz line-up is a flowing, ever-changing funked up beast.

Now AHoriBuzz are set to tackle Aotearoa announcing a HUGE nationwide tour that will take them from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South Island and all the places in between to take on the Nation Of The State.

Since it’s inception AHoriBuzz has toured with Fat Freddy’s, Tiki, Shapeshifter, Rhombus and Salmonella Dub and graced the stages of Rippon, Homegrown, Kaikoura Roots, Splore, Rhythm and Vines and Alps, Electric Avenue and many more festival stages, pubs and clubs. Aaron’s music grew up on the streets of New Zealand busking with his Dad.

Aaron’s social media is legendary and his hilarious, often political, sometimes poignant social commentary gains active followers and spurs conversation on topics such as Kim Dot Com, Goodnight Kiwi and finding a drummer.

He’s been dubbed ‘‘New Zealand’s answer to Jimi Hendrix’’ in the media multiple times and there’s no denying Aaron is one of NZ's most unique musical talents.

Imagine Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder and Jimmy Hendrix all rolled into one and you have half the picture. - Rip It Up Magazine

I used to think I was a good guitarist until I played with Aaron Tokona, that boy is a genius, he can makea guitar talk and what it's saying you want to listen to. - Jon Toogood, SHIHAD
