The Bands are....
EARL JEFFERSON: Earl Jefferson formed late last year as a working band, playing old blues jams in various Cuba St bars. While at work they meticulously crafted an original set. This will be the bands debut performance and friends have likened the sound to David Bowie and some of the Beatles ‘later’ recordings. Earl Jefferson is fronted by Mark Sommerville on Electric guitar & vocals with an all star rhythm section consisting of Andrew Bain (Fur Patrol) on Bass guitar, Dayle Jellyman (Roseneath Centennial Ragtime Band) on Piano and Liam Prince on drums.
KOBRA CLUB: Kobra Club are a bunch of mates looking for a good time. We’re concerned with the hard hitting issues like who’s gonna get the next dozen beers and who’s still got smokes in these tough economic times.
BEASTS & BIRDS: Beasts & Birds are a concoction of influences and styles blended to make a sound, which is unique. Having been compared to Bill Withers and The Doors it’s safe to say that soul & rock ‘n roll are held close to their hearts. The formidable duo of Gabe Johnston & Barney Johnson supply the grooving rhythms on bass & drums, while one of Wellington’s finest musicians Jeremy Desmond brings the colour on keys & guitar. Fronted by Darren Hill whose vocals shift effortlessly from a soulful chirp to a booming roar, this is one band you don’t want to miss.
GUNTER HERBIG: Gunter Herbig is an acclaimed classical guitar performance artist with a history of recordings and international solo and ensemble performances in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Germany. Having been at the forefront of guitar artistry in New Zealand for over twenty years, Gunter has now extended his latest musical adventures into song writing with an original voice and style of slide guitar playing you haven’t heard before.
