The Handsome Giants The Explosive Blues Show So simply get along to the Yot Club on the 9th October 2015, to catch three of NZ’s finest exponents of the blues plying their trade, they developed their own musical style, based on Blues, R&B and Rock’n’Roll, and put together a dynamite show to go with it.

Because they draw from several traditional musical genres, the Handsome Giants have something for all lovers of music, of all ages. No extravagancy, just raw, passionate musicians loving what they do. Fans of rock will recognize the power and energy; Blues enthusiasts will love the intricacy, yet playfulness of the musicianship. It’s got plenty of Soul and life - and for those lyric-buffs out there, the message is clear: We’re all going to have one heck of a good time!

Shayn Wills: rhythm and lead guitar, harmonica and vocals. Watching Wills perform it becomes glaringly obvious he is something special. For starters his ability to play harmonica, guitar and sing at once is astounding and entertaining. His complex guitar rhythms, innovative harmonica riffs and melodic voice make him a must see act. From the early 1990’s Wills world class standard has opened shows for legendary innovative blues musicians such as Albert King, Junior Wells, Robert Cray, John Hammond Jnr, Canned Heat, Duke Robilard. These names form the basis of the Blues as we know it today. Julie Oakley, ‘Real Groove’ music magazine is quoted to say, “Wills is one of the original black Mississippi Blues legends, reincarnated and living in Wellington, (New Zealand)”. Freddy Limbert: drums and backing vocals.16 year old Mudsharx fresh from NZ, jamming on Sunday(1992) with Willie Foster, Asie Patton and Model T Ford at the Hollyridge grocery store (which doubled as a juke-joint) in the Mississippi Delta. Everyone takes a break and while outside breathing in that sweet air, he was shot at in a drive-by – it’s ok, the guy was drunk and missed – and being the only white face there, some would say Limbert was asking for it! This experience just ignited and consolidated his passion for the Blues, and he understood from very early on in his career, where and why the roots of this music was born. Limbert was privileged to play support for BB King with the Remarkable Beat Roosters, and also opened for the true Swamp man himself Tony Joe White.

His drumming has been described as high energy, dynamic, melodic with a killer shuffle. He has great fun on stage and is a true pleasure to watch, defining the meaning of groove with every performance. Sid Limbert: bass and backing vocals. A long musical journey of life on the road, preforming on bandstands since the early 60’s, with some of the biggest names in the industry. Limbert’s experience lean’s on a strong rhythmic sense, tight arrangements with lots of rhythmic colour – stops, accents and other musical devices. With his masterful bass playing and a strong stage presence Limbert is a force to be reckoned with.
