DEBUT CHRISTCHURCH SOLO SHOWS - THOMAS OLIVER and LOUIS BAKER (double bill)
This is a rare opportunity to witness two of New Zealand's most masterful singer-songwriters bring their rich blend of melodies and musicianship to the stage after performing a series of duo shows internationally.
Both artists are currently celebrating new releases - Thomas Oliver 'If I Move To Mars' and Louis Baker - 'The Way' remixed by Christchurch local Devin Abrams.
Thomas Oliver is recognised internationally as one of the leading players of the Weissenborn lap-steel guitar and is a multi-talented guitarist, songwriter and singer.
In 2013 Oliver released the first full-length, all-instrumental, all-Weissenborn album, titled Beneath The Weissenborn. The album debuted at #6 in the New Zealand charts and was greeted with 5-star reviews and sold-out shows across the nation.
“He joins Leo Kotke, Ry Cooder and Michael Hedges as someone who has made buying a guitar album a must” Stuff.co.nz *****
Renowned for equal parts uplifting / tear-inducing live shows, Louis Baker’s achingly raw lyrics, intertwined with mesmerizing melodies and an emotive vocal tone that produces shades of Motown-era soul, leave no surprise as to why he was a finalist in the prestigious APRA Silver Scrolls Awards in 2014.
“How can anyone have a voice this timeless and soulful in 2014' 'Bearded Magazine' Review, UK
