Canadian born, Kiwi raised fiddle player Flora Knight calls New Zealand home. She spent her youth bouncing around Dunedin playing in various bands of folk, rockabilly, metal and scottish sounds. Upon leaving high school she through herself into the touring life, with the fine folks deemed New Zealand's hardworking band 'The Eastern'/ After recording two critically acclaimed albums with The Eastern, touring countless times up and down New Zealand and Australia, and a few encounters with a number of banjo players that had no one to play fiddle tunes with, she was led to immerse herself in the traditions of American Old Time music. Her curiosities saw her to embark on a pilgrimage across the U.S to gain a richer understanding and first hand encounters with these traditions.
When Flora is not consuming fiddle tunes, swapping stories with anyone who'll lend an ear or singing an old country ballad…you may find her pulling weeds from her garden, wooing sheep with a bucket of oats, perhaps behind a sewing machine whipping up a new dancing frock or baking a peach pie that'll come out with a crust flakier than your funny uncles dandruff…..
