After months of intensive pre production, a whirlwind recording session with legendary producer John Merchant and a year’s worth of perfecting their sounds in post production, Australia’s latest ska / funk sensations, Cheap Fakes released their highly anticipated record Modern Vintage to Australian audiences in October.
Never ones to leave fans out of the party, the band have announced their debut tour of New Zealand, February & March 2016, with a string of headline dates across both islands to celebrate the release of Modern Vintage.
“We wanted this album to be an experience and a journey for the listener. There are a lot of different styles and genres and we have worked really hard to craft an album that is intense and huge in parts but then gentle and sparse in others. It is definitely an album of big build ups and breakdowns, tension and release.

(Cheap Fakes) have so many elements that make them really interesting. Super solid rhythm section, good guitar players, Scotty French (guitar) brings a lot to the table, horn players are great, really inventive with great tone and Hayden has a great voice and I think for me, thats really the draw.
