Gig Information

Wellington's Orchestra of Spheres are returning to Tim's Place in Marahau! With support from local psych icons Queen St Crusher!

Over the last 5 years Orchestra of Spheres have toured the world, taking their unique music from Wellington to far flung corners of the earth! The band has developed a cult-like following, playing house parties, opera houses, DIY clubs and festivals from Iceland to New York and Beijing.

One of the first places Orchestra of Spheres played outside of Wellington was Marahau, at the very first gig at Tim's Place. On 25th March they are very excited to be returning to Tim's, who's place has become a regular stopover for touring bands. Of playing in Marahau, the band says We've had a great connection with Marahau and the upper South Island since our early days. It's always a buzz to play at Tim's, looking out over the bay at Marahau. Tim is a top bloke and the audience is always out of this world ....

Orchestra of Spheres use home made instruments to make their psychedelic dancing sound. The biscuit tin guitar is made from a biscuit tin and a wooden slat from a futon bed, with 3 strings stretched between. It's cheap and cheerful. The band also play the electric bass carillon, theremin, gamelan and more regular instruments such as drums and synths. For this trip the four regular members, Baba Rossa, Mos Iocos, EtonalE and Woild Boin and joined by new recruit, Spirit Elder.

This will be one of the last NZ gigs for Orchestra of Spheres before they take off to Europe in May to release their new album, Brothers and Sisters of the Black Lagoon.
