The early 90's were an interesting era in the Los Angeles music scene, with many music fans growing weary of the over-used hair-metal mantra that had defined the 80's. Groups such as Tool offered an alternative; a highly innovative species of heavy rock based on musicality and raw emotion. With the commercial success of groups such as Alice in Chains, Nirvana and Soundgarden, the platform was set for Tool to take to the world stage. They continue to sell out arenas to this day.
