Sunday Soul Sessions!

A new monthly event on the last Sunday of the month, kicking off on May 29th! Sunday Soul Sessions brings you Vegan Eats and Hip Hop Beats, the perfect combination of awesome vegan food and Hip Hop tunes together under the one roof at Auckland's pre-eminent Kings Arms Tavern.

Vegan chefs join forces to create a soulful and tasty Southern USA inspired menu while some of Auckland's hottest DJ's spin Sunday Hip Hop vibes. Come and chill in the epic Kings Arms Main Bar and Beer Garden, play some pool, cut some shapes on the dance floor and eat some tasty food. There'll be no better way to spend your Sunday!

A portion of the proceeds from food sales will be going to Direct Animal Action to help them help the Animals! There will also be a Koha box on the day if you'd like to put in some of your spare change to support Direct Animal Action.

Doors open at 12pm and the last DJ plays till 9pm.

The DJ's:
We are super excited to announce that we have the highly skilled and sought after Auckland DJ, Gregg Harper on the decks! He's a veteran at what he does having been on the scene since the early 2000’s with his involvement in BFM’s true school Hip Hop show and has been playing clubs around Auckland since 2002. Gregg toured NZ and Australia as Scribe’s DJ where they opened for big names like Kanye West, NAS, Talib Kweli and The Roots. Gregg has also played support shows for respected and renowned DJ’s Quest Love, A-Trak, Mix Master Mike and DJ Babu. You can normally find him in the 1885 basement where he has a weekly residency every Friday night. He plays to the vibe of the crowd and throws down an eclectic mix of older gems and breaking new music!

Sunday Soul Sessions is over the moon the announce our second DJ to join the line-up. Krish is an emerging female DJ on the male dominated Auckland scene. It all started from inheriting her father’s record collection that she has continued to grow through the years. She has already played a gigs at well-known venues Rakinos, PSC and 1885 alongside some of her male DJ friends who inspired her to get in DJing. She is a beat selector and will serenade you with a delicious mix of Soul, R&B and HipHop classics.

In Support of:
Direct Animal Action is a new grassroots Animal Rights group based in Auckland. They are an active Animal Rights community that empowers people who care about the rights of animals to make real change for animals in New Zealand. They are entirely volunteer-run and have so far run successful campaigns against colony cages and rodeos.
