Rodney Fisher (Goodshirt) – solo
Rodney Fisher is a folk, country singer/songwriter. Best known in New Zealand as the singer of Alt pop rock band goodshirt, who’s DIY approach to recording and 1 shot music video’s made a name for themselves in the early 2000’s with a string of hit song’s including Sophie, Fiji Baby, and Green.
Rodney’s solo career began in 2005, when he recorded the Songs From The Backyard album in New Zealand with UK producer Andy Lovegrove (Supergrass, The Go Team) “a sweet collection of heartfelt songs” (4/5, NZ Herald). During this time, Zane Lowe invited Rodney to play in his band Breaks Co-Op on tour in NZ and the UK – which lead to a range of gigs from festival slots at Hyde Park Calling, T In The Park and Oxegen, to TV appearances on Top of the Pops, to a headline tour of theatres in UK.
After touring extensively, he decided to stay living in London and put together his own band of talented musicians – Rodney Fisher & The Rest – who gigged regularly at folk club nights in London and played by invitation opening for Mumford & Sons, Cate Le Bon, Woodpigeon.
Currently resided in NZ, Rodney has been in hibernation staying in and working on new material.
Due to various other projects under the same heading, namely the online live music series Rodney curated and developed. The oddly titled ‘Song’s from the backyard feat. Rodney Fisher’ is only available at live shows as a limited edition Screen printed CD. This set of songs is for re release as an EP online under Rodney Fisher as a solo Musician.
