8:00pm – 10:00pm .. Callum Gentleman + Ryan Fisherman
Every Thursday evening we kick off cocktail hour with Dick Martin (of Dick Martin and Mr Martini), always dressed for the occasion and ready to shake it he showcases rare gems from his vaults of vintage vinyl. Specializing in Lounge, Latin, Exotica and Hawaiian. As Dick Martin winds down the turntables our live entertainment winds up.
Each week we bring you fresh new ensembles that you can get your lounge on to. From Western Swing to Calypso to safari suit wearing cabaret kitsch to vaudeville country noir to elevator electronica, we’ve got it covered.
On Thursday the 20th of October we present to you Callum Gentleman and Ryan Fisherman
Callum Gentleman plays blues/folk noir with the odd dash of country. It’s Nick Cave meets The Smiths in a dark alley where they conspire to kidnap Bob Dylan and move to New Zealand. It’s Tom Waits sharing a bottle of moonshine with Leonard Cohen at 4am. He’s a trouper, raconteur, impresario, chancer, and murder ballad lover. But above all, Callum Gentleman is a storyteller. These stories come out as songs, poems, campfire yarns and whiskey-soaked bar banter.
Ryan Fisherman is “Chiwi” born musician from Christchurch, New Zealand.
As an advocate of kiwi music Ryan has performed or been a member of many local bands such as Doprah, NAKEY, Fraser Ross (Band), Sand Fly Bay, Rickshaw, Golden Orange, Sister Something, Sabine Wojnar & Asian Tang.
Originally a drummer, Ryan decided to learn various instruments to help hone his skill as a song writer. He records most of his music from home which is available via Band Camp & Spotify.
