Combining international-class musicianship and artistry of song, award-winning artists Gillian Boucher (Canada) and Bob McNeill (Scotland) will be showcasing their individual approach to Celtic music at the Levin Folk Music Club on Friday, May 12th.
Blending contemporary and traditional songs with percussive guitar and slicing fiddle, this dynamic duo present a heart-wrenching and toe-tapping show, taking listeners on a journey from the rocky shores of Scotland and Ireland to the rolling hills of Nova Scotia, Canada. Gillian Boucher, one of Nova Scotia’s most well-known fiddlers, has been touring the world since the age of 15 delighting audiences with her innovative and expressive take on traditional music. Her most recent album, Attuned (2014), received great acclaim, snapping up a Nova Scotia Music Award Nomination, an East Coast Music Award Nomination and a prestigious Canadian Folk Music Award Nomination for Instrumental Recording of the Year.

Bob McNeill, originally from Scotland, moved to New Zealand in 1999 and quickly established himself as one of New Zealand’s best-known Folk artists for his solo work and with Celtic duo Ben the Hoose. An innovative songwriter, Bob is a 3-time New Zealand Music Award recipient for Best Folk Album of the Year. His songs have been covered by artists in New Zealand, Scotland, Australia and the USA.
