Due South in association with Phantom Billstickers is proud to bring ex-pat Kiwi musician John Kempt to Lyttelton for the first time. This event will be filmed as part of our Aliens Drugs and Music documentary telling the story of John’s search for success and how his ability to capture people’s imaginations and to find the funny side of life’s serious problems underpin the decisions he makes…all set to John’s cracking tunes.
From living in the US for 15 years as a legal alien to recording his album earlier this year at Alice Coopers old place in Los Angeles to suffering a mental breakdown, homelessness and deportation, John has been through the ringer. At this event you’ll hear some of the stories and the music it inspired in a one off sixty minute solo acoustic set. We’d love as many people along as possible as this is a filmed event. Some parts of the performance may be repeated for the cameras.
