Support From Grawlixes And Paul Cathro
The Prophet Hens embark of a NZ tour in celebration of their second album The Wonderful Shape of Back Door Keys, with the support of Fishrider Records (NZ) & Occultation Records (UK). This Dunedin based jangle pop outfit of Chills meets Belle & Sebastian pop alchemy (according to The Finest Kiss in the US) made its mark all over the world; praised as “psychédélisme plaintif” by French music weekly Les Inrocks, given 10/10 in reviews by UK mailorder specialists Norman Records’ staff and customers, and featured on BBC 6Music radio shows (Marc Riley, Gideon Coe) in the UK.
“It is in a word unmissable.” – Stereo Embers (US)
“Chills meets Belle and Sebastian pop alchemy…The Prophet Hens may be better than both.” – Finest Kiss (Seattle, US)
Grawlixes are a Wellington (by way of Dunedin) based indie pop outfit. Featuring sweeping boy-girl vocal melodies & harmonies, with accordion and guitar. Grawlixes toured extensively throughout Europe with French for Rabbits in 2015 and are preparing the release of their first album Set Free in July 2017 through Home Alone Music with Southbound as a distributor.
Paul Cathro is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has performed in and driven a number of projects originating in Dunedin, New Zealand. The best known of these is Ha The Unclear, with whom Cathro has toured Australia, and toured New Zealand as the support for Courtney Barnett. He fronted psych-rock band Alizarin Lizard, and Cathro has also appeared in an eclectic range of Dunedin side projects such as Fat Children and Biff Merchants. As a solo artist, his lo-fi EPs, albums and collaborations have been traded and pored over by musicians and trainspotters in Dunedin for half a decade.
