Grout Presents: merk, BOZO & Ha The Unclear
What a good way to kick off a little monthly series at The Wine Cellar with three big favourites: merk, BOZO & Ha the Unclear.
Self-described as Pavement produced by George Martin, 2016 saw merk sneak away from touring the world with Fazerdaze to release his debut album Swordfish and boy does he know how to write a goddamn catchy pop song. He's also got a real big thing for eggs which you can enjoy along with his album here:

No one does proper jangly garage surf like BOZO. With a line up that includes Yolanda Fagan and Guy Forks (Echo Ohs), Durham Fenwick (Scuba Diva, New Gum Sarn, Guardian Singles), Harriet Ellis (Thee Crockettes, Mistress Blaster) and Mason Fairey (The Naenae Express, Pixels) let's just agree to call this a supegroup.

Ha The Unclear have made the migration to Auckland from the deep south of Dunedin and boy are we happy to have them. The jaunty, often-absurd narratives of their songs are backed by alt-pop hooks that saw them open for Courtney Barnett and tour Australia. There's a new album not far off but in the meantime here's a song about a coffeetable in love with it's owner:

Come down for a good boogie and support these great bands by listening to their great music.
