The Wilding Pines 2017 World Tour of Dunedin
A World Tour of Dunedin, that's how Dunedin string band The Wilding Pines are celebrating their albumTelegraph Road.
The album was recorded live in front of a invited audience in February at the historic Greendale Baptist Church near Christchurch.
“So many of the songs have their roots in this region that we thought it would be fun to take them on tour without actually leaing home. We've got songs about the building of he Clyde Dam, the 1879 Kaitangata mine explosion, about bogans racing cars out of Gore and one song which gave the band its name about wilding pines.” said the band's principal songwriter Richard Dingwall.
The Wilding Pines have just returned from a successful trip to Christchurch where they played to a capacity audience at the Christchurch Folk Music Club.
The band includes Read Hudson ( Dobro & banjo), Steve Barkman (guitar, mandolin) with Lawrence O’Callaghan (lead guitar & Dobro).
