The Troubles is one of this country’s most engaging and exciting jazz bands. From the coarse to the sublime, the emotive to the absurd, their music is inventive, passionate, honest, and wholly life affirming. Led by John Rae, a drummer and composer hailing from Edinburgh, the players are a mix of string quartet and jazz trio forming a distinctive sound. During 2014 the band performed to sell-out crowds at the Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival and in 2015 they plan to take their unmistakably Kiwi sound around the world.
