Hallertau Presents: Bernie Griffen and Kirsten Warner - live at Hallertau, Saturday, October 28, 1.30pm - Playing their own songs and their favourite American country and folk standards #SaturdaySuite

While Bernie Griffen is sometimes compared to Johnny Cash, Kirsten Warner is more Nanci Griffith or Iris Dement than June Carter Cash. Bernie Griffen’s songs are melodic, soulful tales of a life well and truly lived on the fringes, songs which play like anthems and tap into a vein of testimony.

His music has been called roughhouse or psychedelic folk, blues country or folk blues – hard to label.

Bernie commands an audience and spans the generations. He’s got a guitar style all his own, although you can hear the influences of Neil Young and other wild American artists.

Joined by Kirsten Warner on guitar and singing in close harmony or Kirsten’s vulnerable voice ringing sweet and true, they are a force to be reckoned with.

Bernie’s the host of 95bFM’s American roots music show Border Radio. He's opened for Emmylou Harris, Justin Townes Earle (twice) Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, Little Band of Gold (twice) and Eilen Jewell (twice). His third album Doors Wide Open recorded with Kirsten Warner in Melbourne is due out in March 2018.
