Head to City Gallery for the final Tuatara Open Late for 2017.

Erin Harrington (University of Canterbury) gives a talk on witches in film and pop culture. There is a screening of the 1922 silent horror masterpiece Häxan: Witchcraft through the Ages with a newly composed live score and narration, plus Purple Pilgrims perform their only Wellington gig for 2017.

5–9pm:           DJ B.Lo plays occult-inspired tunes
5 – 9.30pm:   Supper treats and cash bar

About

Erin Harrington is a lecturer in English and Cultural Studies at the University of Canterbury. Her work focuses on horror, embodiment, popular and visual culture, and sex and gender, and she also has a particular interest in theatre, criticism and dramaturgy. She has written for a range of literary and academic publications, art catalogues, and popular outlets, and she regularly appears as a speaker and panelist. Her book, Women, Monstrosity and Horror Film: Gynaehorror, will be published this year by Routledge.

Benjamin Christensen's 1922 silent horror masterpiece Häxan, complete with live narration and newly composed score performed by Dayle Jellyman (keys); Justin Firefly (guitars); Dan Yeabsley (horns, reeds, bass); Andrew Laking (bass); and Thomas Friggens (percussion).

Sisters Valentine and Clementine Nixon are the dream-pop duo Purple Pilgrims.
