Fortress Europe are playing The Wine Cellar to celebrate the release of their new single “Rivers of Blood and Money / Ohridsko Oro”, with support from The Protection.
Fortress Europe is the latest project by Auckland-based musician/composer Leon Radojkovic, after previously heading Dr Colossus, and subsequently somehow morphing into a theatre, film and TV composer.
“Rivers of Blood and Money” contrasts jagged martial rhythms with melancholic violin and saxophone, interspersed with Morricone-inspired expanses. The B-side, “Ohridsko Oro” is a Macedonian folk tune by Angel Nančevski, recomposed by Radojkovic into a fuzzed-out drone metal epic.
As befits the occasion Fortress Europe will feature two of Auckland's best drummers, Tom Broome and Adam Tobeck, at once.
Double Drums.
Nuff said.
