This Old Hall Gig is brought to you at the Cook Islands Society Hall, hidden away up the hill in the heart of Newtown.
Freya Daly Sadgrove is a writer and performer in Wellington. She has an MA in poetry from the International Institute of Modern Letters and her work has appeared in various publications including Sweet Mammalian, Scum, Shabby Doll House and The Spinoff.
George Johnston makes sounds, and sits quietly. He makes ambient electronic music as Mantle, and will lead a mindful listening session at this Old Hall Gig.
Dawn Diver is a new project led by local musician Ben Lemi (Trinity Roots, French for Rabbits). The group features the multi-faceted talents of vocalists Deanne Krieg (Ida Lune, Whim) and Holly Beals (Family Cactus, Encouragement), bass player Will Sklenars (DJ Animorph, Garrett Street Collective), and drummer Hikurangi Shaverien-Kaa (French for Rabbits, Glass Vaults).
Dawn Diver draws from the depths of waking dreams and the forest whispers of Mt. Victoria’s dizzying heights. Subtly manipulating frameworks of lyrical narratives, groove based music, song forms, and electronic timbres, Dawn Diver’s music holds a harmonically colourful aesthetic with a driving pulse.
